Get ready for the most exciting, amazing and sometimes nerve-wracking adventure of your life!
Congratulations you’re pregnant!
Now you’ll be eating, resting, exercising and thinking for two…and maybe more!
There’s so much to know about pre-natal care, pregnancy diet and nutrition and baby-care.
As you watch your pregnancy calendar and count down to the big day, here’s some simple advice:
Jot It Down!
Carry a small notebook or journal in your purse to record doctor’s appointments, baby’s movements, prenatal nutrition and diet details, and other memories you might want to record.
It’s handy, keeps you organized and makes a great keepsake that you can share with your baby one day. You’ll be so busy as the months roll along, it will be a lifesaver!
Eat healthy, Eat often:
Prenatal nutrition and your pregnancy diet are extremely important for your health and that of your baby.
After all you are eating for two now!
Make healthy choices – grains, whole-wheat breads and cereals, dairy products, fresh fruits and vegetables and lots of water.
Your prenatal diet should include eating smaller amounts at shorter intervals. This could also help offset morning sickness.
Wash, peel and cut up fresh fruits or vegetables and store in the fridge – so you’re always ready.
Carry portable, healthy snacks in your purse – you never know when the two of you will be hungry!
Stay Active Within Reason
There are all kinds of prenatal exercises you can do to keep fit, and stay active.
Aquaform, yoga, pilates, or the most cost-effective – walking.
Record your daily activity on a pregnancy calendar – you’ll be impressed at the end.
It’s important to make light exercise a part of your daily routine. It will benefit your health and that of your baby and may also be important in labor and delivery.
Prenatal Rest & Relaxation!
When you’re not eating or exercising, remember to rest.
The first and last three months of your pregnancy are usually the most physically demanding.
You might make it all the way through those movie rentals – that’s normal!
Short naps or just putting your feet up with a good book will re-energize your mind and body.
If you don’t have the luxury of a nap – try turning off the tv, radio, cell phone and relish the silence for 15 minutes. It will do wonders!
